Favorite stop

The Ritz-Carlton Aruba

Past favorite for happy hour or drinks. Current public dining options include Madero Pool & Beach Grill and Noori Sushi Lounge; exact happy-hour timing should be confirmed close to travel.

Marriott option

Aruba Marriott / Atardi

Atardi is the beachfront seafood restaurant at Aruba Marriott. Aruba.com recommends 6-7 PM reservations for sunset dining.

Confirm name

Possible match: Bugaloe Beach Bar & Grill

This may be the green/blue/white place you were thinking of. It is on Palm Beach Pier between the RIU and Hilton, with daily happy hours listed by Aruba.com. Andy/Sara should confirm before sharing as a plan.

Arrival day

Superfoods grocery run

After arrival, make a practical stock-up run for fruit, liquids, beverages, adult beverages, snacks, and easy staples for the week.

Activities

Ideas menu, not reservations

No booked activities or excursions are confirmed yet. These are Aruba-sourced options the family can choose from later.

Easy

Eagle Beach day

La Cabana is already at Eagle Beach, so this is the simplest plan: beach, pool, shade, repeat.

Kid-friendly

Baby Beach

Known for shallow, calm water. Good candidate for a family day if the group wants a scenic drive.

Nature

Arikok National Park

Official Aruba guidance calls out caves, local wildlife, and rugged landscapes. Consider accessibility before booking.

Family

Butterfly Farm or Donkey Sanctuary

Gentler outing options for mixed ages and kids, with less beach gear involved.

Culture

Oranjestad + Fort Zoutman

A manageable history stop with pastel architecture, shops, and museum time.

Art

San Nicolas murals

Colorful street art and a different side of the island if the group wants a non-beach outing.

Island history and trivia

A little One Happy Island flavor

Long before beach resorts

Aruba's first known inhabitants were the Archaic people, followed later by the Caquetio people from the mainland. Rock drawings can still be seen at Fontein Cave and Ayo Rock Formation.

Spanish, Dutch, British, Dutch again

Aruba came under Spanish rule, then Dutch control in 1636. The British held Aruba from 1806 to 1816 before it returned to Dutch authority.

Aloe, gold, oil, tourism

Aruba's economy moved through gold, phosphate, aloe, and oil before tourism became the island's largest industry.

Status Aparte

In 1986, Aruba became an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The island handles internal affairs while the Kingdom manages foreign affairs and defense.

Fast fact: Aruba is about 70 square miles and sits in the Southern Caribbean.

Language fact: Papiamento became an official Aruban language alongside Dutch on March 19, 2003.

Beach fact: Aruba has more than 20 public beaches and coves, from calm family bays to windier wild shores.
